Northern Hues

Churchill, Manitoba

On this particular evening in Churchill, Manitoba, the northern lights appeared earlier than they had previously. The sky was clear, and while the sun was setting, you could already see faint aurora glimmers. At that time of the year, the setting sun often produces an orange horizon that would last for some time. On this night, the combination of the early appearance of the aurora, the orange horizon, and the blue sky produced a unique vista. This one little bright aurora spiral provided a beautiful contrast against the colourful blue and orange background - a symbol of our magnificent Canadian North.
